'The informal nature appealed to me'
Bas started at Scania through NextGen and is now a permanent employee. He is now working on the construction of a new paint shop, where efficiency and emission reduction are key. A role that perfectly matches his ambition and drive.

"Menno invited me for an introduction and during that conversation I quickly became enthusiastic. The informal character appealed to me and my interests lie in the field where NextGen is active a lot. And I am driven and know how to convey that, which fits NextGen very well."
Process Engineer
"I started working as a Process Engineer at Scania in Meppel. In my first year, I worked on what we call air management: reducing hydrocarbon emissions combined with efficiency improvements."
"I am currently in the process of building an entirely new manual paint line. The goal here, too, is to increase efficiency and improve capacity. At the same time, we are further reducing hydrocarbon emissions.
Plenty of opportunities
Plenty of opportunities
"After a year on secondment, I recently joined Scania on a permanent basis. I started with process improvements, but so now I'm really building things. That is, of course, very cool. If you are assertive and show interest in projects outside your original job profile, a lot is possible. Scania is also just a really nice company. NextGen really managed to find a good match between my wishes and the position I now hold."
Operational and strategic
"What I really appreciate at Scania is the operational work, together with the people on the shop floor, combined with projects at the strategic level. That combination is now about fifty-fifty and I like that very much."

Constant challenge
"Production will continue to increase here in the near future. For the plant, increasing capacity is a constant challenge. There are many great projects coming up, so for me there are many opportunities to learn new things and be involved with many different facets. In the coming years, I will be in a great place here."
