Environmental Officer at Norit
As an Environmental Officer at Norit, you will work with your colleagues to improve environmental performance and ensure that Norit always complies with relevant laws and regulations. You not only ensure that they obtain and maintain environmental permits, but also actively help them to reduce harmful emissions. You do this in collaboration with production and other departments within the company.
What else are you involved in?
- Develop and maintain the environmental management system (ISO 14001) as part of the SHEQ management system;
- Initiate and prepare permit applications, including negotiating with relevant agencies to obtain required permits;
- Proactively liaise with licensing and inspection agencies, as well as local residents in the immediate area;
- Prepare and supervise environmental inspections and external environmental audits;
- Prepare environmental annual report (e-MJV) and provide support in the implementation of ARIE obligations;
- Reviewing business activities for environmental aspects, ensuring they remain within legal frameworks, and monitoring compliance with permits, with initiation of corrective action if necessary;
- Explore opportunities for grants or reimbursements for environmental measures;
- Maintain and update knowledge related to environmental regulations;
- Ensure proper, effective and cost-efficient disposal of waste streams;
- Participate in project groups focused on product and process optimization;
- Testing the environmental impact of potential new products and/or customers, and controlling existing customers by reviewing entry control;
- Support the management team (MT) in improving the environmental awareness of responsible employees.

What do you own?
- A completed college degree in chemistry or environment;
- Independent, eager to learn, team player with a sense of responsibility;
- Knowledge of relevant (environmental) regulations;
- Communication skills and able to communicate effectively within production and with authorities;
- Good knowledge of the Dutch and English languages.
- You live in the Zaandam area;

- An excellent gross salary between €65,000 and €88,000 including 8% vacation pay and a 13th month (depending on experience);
